Seal carving, also seal cutting, or zhuanke in Chinese (篆刻), is a traditional form of art that originated in China and later spread to East Asia. It refers to cutting a design into the bottom face of the seal (the active surface used for stamping, rather than the sides or top). Also known as seal engraving.
Now we have Jonny Ziyang, a young enthusiast who made this traditional art form very easy to approach and fun. Jonny has already helped nearly a thousand Chinese youngsters made their own customized stamps in the pass two years. Now he wants to share this up-to-date art with the foreigners in Beijing city.
The whole workshop would take less than three hours.
Participants will be able to make their own stamps with a nice DIY bookmark.
