Kids’ CNY Camp: Sewing 101

For Chinese New Year, The SLab is opening up a course on sewing for students ages 8+. The SLab’s most popular course [ Sewing 101 ] is a program which covers the basics on how to use a sewing machine. Students will learn how to fully operate a machine independently as well as basic trouble-shooting. Students will complete the program, with a drawstring bag that they would have designed and sewn all by themselves.

*ALL CLASSES ARE TAUGHT IN ENGLISH

Kids’ CNY Camp: Metalsmithing 101

For Chinese New Year, The SLab is opening up a course on metalsmithing for students ages 12+. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to pierce, saw, and finish metal pieces in the [ Metalsmithing 101 ] program; a unique experience for students to work with brass & silver to create their own jewelry or accessories for the new year. Starting from design and conceptualizing their pieces, students proceed by learning the technique in metalsmithing by applying what they learn every step of the way.

Kids’ CNY Camp: Movie Making

For Chinese New Year, The SLab is opening up a course on movie making for students ages 8+. Using the tools and equipment that are available to low-budget film-makers, the [ Movie Making ] camp takes students filming and photographing on iPads, iPhones, and home cameras. Professional cameras and recording devices would be available for students to handle on set if the instructors observe that the student is qualified and responsible enough.

Kids’ CNY Camp: iMovie Editing

For Chinese New Year, The SLab is opening up a course on editing in iMovie for students ages 12+.Not only do students learn the foundational tools of using iMovie in this camp, they will also be learning editing techniques to best create a coherent film that’s created by the [ Movie Making ] Camp of the previous week.

REQUIRED:

-Laptop equipped with iMovie & at least 5 GB of available space on their hard-drive.

-MVI files from home-videos.

Kids’ CNY Camp: Photography 101

Chinese New Year, The SLab is opening up a course on digital photography for students ages 8+. The [ Digital Photography ] camp for kids is The SLab’s latest program developed for students to understand the ins and outs of photography through understanding compositions and learning how to use a camera correctly. Photography is a skill that applies the elements and principles of design, through the use of a medium that takes time and experience to develop. With a good handle on the camera and a refined eye, students will be able to capture the stories of the world they see around them.

REQUIRED:

Students will need to bring in their own DSLR camera with at least 32GB of space on their SD cards.
